THE DEVELOPMENT Lucas UK Group is one of the leading fit out and finishing specialists in the UK construction industry, offering full fit out packages alongside decorative & protective coating services. The Embrace Building Wraps team were appointed to deliver internal branding elements to the new, purpose-built Centre of Excellence and Innovation in Wrotham, Kent.

The Centre will provide training facilities for their workforce, allowing teaching and demonstrations in real on-site situations. The complex is also home to a “future lab” for research and development initiatives and collaborative innovation.

THE BRIEF It’s quite an honour when a leading specialist fit out and finishing contractor invites you to deliver a project for them, and a strong endorsement of our reputation within the construction industry. Our brief was to provide internal branding elements for the new centre, working across a range of surfaces and locations, covering everything from a corrugated metal wall to an industrial shutter door.

THE SOLUTION With our expertise in building wraps and large-scale banners we were able to specify the perfect combination of solutions to deliver the internal branding. We deployed multiple mechanics behind the scenes, whilst presenting a unified and harmonious visual for visitors to the centre.

Five main banners were used at a high level to cover the corrugated metal wall. We used a PVC-free substrate for the banners, which were secured by a wire frame system bolt tapped into the steels. The Kavalan Sunlight Weldable banners used feature a PVC-free resin coating that delivers the look, feel and performance of PVC but significant advantages to the environment.

In another location two printed wraps were secured using a high-quality Spirit-FLEX® tension system. This two-part clip system comprises a base aluminium frame secured to the wall, with the banner stretched over the frame. A tension strip clip profile is then secured into a base channel that both creates tension and holds the banner in place.

Self-adhesive vinyl panels were also used to add branding to the shutter door, a technique we have also used successfully at Crystal Palace F.C., Here East and Capstan House.

The stunning creative reinforces the Lucas brand and draws inspiration from a number of quotes from innovative thought leaders, helping to create a stimulating workspace for our client.
